Based in the South West of England, I have been active privately and professionally in the field of Family History Research for many years, no doubt brought about by the extraordinary tale I grew up with surrounding the birth of Douglas Boganny Phipps, my maternal Grandfather. The mystery of who his father was fuelled my ambition to one day uncover the truth and in time I was astonished to discover that he had been the one and only Joe Boganny of Music-Hall fame, and of Irish/Hewbrew (Toledano) blood.
Since then I've learnt a great deal about the lives & careers of Mr. Boganny, and his father, the Equestrian Clown & Gymnast Frank Clifton aka Raslus, the once famous slack-rope performer, and their wider show-business family, some of whom I'm profiling here, and all this currently remains a work in progress.
Today some questions remain unanswered, vital clues and records elude me, hidden in the archives, peoples memories or family histories, hence the creation of this site, for as broad an audience as possible, to document the facts for the record, for fellow researchers & scholars, for all who are interested and for my family.
If you'd like to contact me and/or contribute new information, have fresh insight into anyone I have profiled here at joeboganny.co.uk or have queries about anything documented in these pages, then don't hesitate in contacting me using the form below, I shall endeavour to respond to you as soon as possible.
